Sacramental Preparation

First Holy Communion: Families of students in the second grade or above, who have not received First Holy Communion, and who have completed the previous year of faith formation last year are automatically enrolled in Sacramental Preparation. A child must be in his or her second consecutive year of Catholic education or faith formation classes in order to be eligible for the sacrament of First Holy Communion. He or she must also attend Mass regularly.

Confirmation: Families of students in the eighth grade or above, who have not received the sacrament of Confirmation and who have completed the previous year of faith formation last year are automatically enrolled in Sacramental Preparation. A child must be in his or her second consecutive year of Catholic education or faith formation classes in order to be eligible for the sacrament of Confirmation. He or she must also attend Mass regularly. An all day Confirmation retreat including reconciliation and family gathering at the 4:30 Mass and family pot luck dinner will take place before Confirmation.

Our Adult Faith Formation classes debuted in October 2018. We followed Bishop Robert Barron’s DVD series that explains in the words of Vatican II how “the Mass is a privileged encounter with a great mystery & the source & summit of Catholic life.” We held group discussions each week, focusing on how we could incorporate it into our lives and our attendance & participation at Mass. Father Glenn also answered & discussed questions any of us may have had.  The Mass now has more meaning for us, and we share a bond with each other, a group of Christians who care about helping ourselves and others in experiencing God’s presence in the world.

Additional classes on various topics relevant to adult catechists will also be available.
